2020 has been a crazy year for all of us. Running a small business has not been easy this year, but I want to take a moment to thank all of our fans for your support. We could not have got through this year without our consumers continuing to buy Svens and tell us that they love our product!
We started off June with some great news that we would be featured in the June Gear Patrol Magazine, and continued to be in the spotlight after our friend and big-time freelance writer Adam Hurley at GQ Magazine called Svens - The Best Affordable Face Sunscreen!!!
This year we were fortunate enough to add some support at Svens and hired a wonderful Marketing and Social Media Intern, Nicole. Check out our Instagram to see the amazing content Nicole created this Summer! We are also very lucky to be the client for Drake University Public Relations Capstone class and cannot wait to see what we learn from the next school year.
Another exciting event that happened this year was that we expanded our distribution with Walmart.com and were stocked on the shelves at the Sentry grocery store in Wisconsin.
The pandemic has created many challenges especially with raising awareness for Svens Mineral Sunscreen. We were all set and ready to open a Svens Sunscreen stand on Ohio Street Beach, but covid19 shut those plans down as the Chicago Beaches have been closed all Summer.
All in all, 2020 has been a year of learning and survival. More and more consumers are telling us that they love wearing Svens Sunscreen and that it does rub in clear on all skin types. The strong support and feedback from our fans is what is keeping us motivated to take off in 2021!

]]>Sampling is Hard - getting new customers to try Svens Mineral Sunscreen is not easy and takes a bunch of time. But I am going to keep chipping away on the Lake Shore Trail, the 606, and any other outdoor area that people need Sun Protection.
In 2020, I will have sample packs to give out to new customers!
I will keep reaching out to magazines and writers who can spread the good word about Svens being Non-greasy and Reed Friendly. The trends speak for themselves, shoppers want natural products that are not terrible for the environment. One of my proudest moments of the summer is when a freelance writer named Adam Hurley wrote up Svens in Men’s Journal and Gear Patrol!!

Another exciting event this summer was being accepted to join the Target Innovation Conference downtown Minneapolis. It would be a dream come true being sold on the shelf at Target. Getting 10-20 retail placements is critical in 2020. Shout out to our first ever retail placement, the Silver Room Pop Up in Wicker Park right below my old apartment https://thesilverroom.com/
